CHC helps join in the fight against cancer, 2013 Relay for Life - Smyrna High School
Friday, May 17, 2013
Tonight the Smyrna-Clayton area held its second annual Relay for Life event. The Relay for life is an event that is sponsored by the American Cancer Society to help celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer & remember loved ones, and to also help raise money and awareness about cancer and cancer research. This year the CHC went out and took part in the event to show its support for this great cause. About 10 members were on hand to help show our support. E44-4 was on display for people to see and kids to get inside. Then after the event started, those members on hand walked a full mile in gear, wearing SCBA's, and carrying hand tools. The crew from CHC walked around the track along with members of the American Legion Ambulance 64 team.
In total the Smyrna-Clayton Relay for life event raised over $60,000 in donations to help fight this horrible disease and raise more awareness.
