Assist Dover with 2 Alarm Apartment Fire

At 0713 hrs, Dover Fire Dept. was alerted by their dispatch center for a Multi-Residential with a report of smoke coming from one of the buildings. Just after Dover fire was alerted, the Kent County 911 Center started taking multiple calls for a working fire in a 3 story apartment building with subjects trapped. 46-15 (Chief Carey) arrived with heavy fire through the roof and requested a second alarm. At 0717 hrs, Kent Center alerted Sta. 43 for a Engine Company and Sta. 44 for a Ladder Company to assist Dover on working Multi-Residential with subjects trapped. Ladder 44 and Engine 3 made the response within minutes of dispatch, followed shortly by Rescue 44.  Crews arrived on scene as 2 Maydays were being declared on the fire grounds. The crew from Ladder and Eng. 3 assisted with the removal of the 2 firefighter, which were transported to Kent General Hospital for evaluation. Once the maydays were cleared. The crew from Ladder and Eng. 3 was assigned to the 3rd floor to assist with fire suppression and overhaul operations. Rescue 44 crew were assigned the secondary search on division 2 and 3, searches were negative on both floors and crew was reassigned to assist Ladder and Eng 3 crew. Crews remained on scene until releases by command.
