MVC - 5531 South DuPont Parkway

Just after 0700, the CHC was dispatched for an MVC in the area of 5500 North DuPont Parkway [Smyrna Rest Area]. Engine 44-5 made the response within minutes, under the command of 44-21 [Torres]. Engine 5 arrived to find a single vehicle, off the road way with a telephone pole on top of it. 44-21 acknowledged that the correct address of the incident was 5531 South DuPont Parkway. The driver self extricated and refused treatment per D64. The driver had fallen asleep while traveling southbound, lost control, took out part of a fence from a local business and snapped off a telephone pole before coming to a rest. Crews from Engine 5 and Rescue 44 cleared debris from the roadway and remained on scene until DP&L arrived. Units were back in quarters at 0811.
