At 1222 on the 12th Sta. 44 units were dispatched for a possible working house fire at 214 W. Commerce St. in Smyrna. E44-2 under command of Past Chief Embert responded quickly and found nothing evident from the front side of the house. Crews were met by roofers who advised they were working in the rear of the house and a small fire had started on the roof where the porch area meets the main portion of the house. The fire was already extinguished but there was still some debris smoldering. Upon arrival of L44 Chief Coulbourne assumed command. Crews from 44-2, L44, and E44-3 assisted with removing some of the roof, and siding to ensure there was no extension into the house. After overhaul the crews found there was no extension, and just minimal damage to the fascia of the house. Crews used the booster line to wet the area down extensively. A small hole was punched in the bedroom ceiling to drain the water into a bucket to eliminate any water damage to the inside of the house. Crews were in service for 50 minutes. The CHC had 39 members respond for the alarm.
OIC was Chief Tate Coulbourne Units responding: E44-2, L44, E44-3, R44, FM 19, and A-64
