Ladies Auxiliary
Citizens’ Hose Company No.1 organizes the Ladies Auxiliary on May 8, 1950 to assist and support the firemen. Many of the women who belong to the auxiliary are married to firemen and they know how arduous a fie fighter’s work can be. These women help out wherever and whenever they can. The women serve sandwiches and coffee to the firemen at the larger fires and also support the fire company by holding bake sales, dinners and other various events. They also provide meals during the year for firemen that attend training on the weekends as Delaware State Fire School Training Center. Being available for wedding receptions and various parties help keep these ladies working at a brisk pace.
